cymbal question

Hi Guys!

I recently purchased a 21" Special Dry ride, and love the sound. I have noticed a few diny dings around the edge (less than a millimetre wide I should think). Is this something to worry about? Also, what do you think about trying to file them out? Your comments are much appreciated.

Was this a new purchase or a used cymbal? If it's new, I would say take it back. If it's used, I wouldn't worry about it. A nick that small shouldn't spread.

It was new, but I think some of the damage could have been during transit. Plus I can't really bring it back because I bought it about 300+ miles away. It still sounds amazing, but it's just that niggling thought that it might spread, and the cymbal ruined. Has anyone tried filing these out BTW?

As far as I know, every cymbal company has a warranty of one year and it doesn't matter where you've bought it.

if you bought it new, send it back to the shop if it's too far away to drive to...

It'll only cause heartache further down the line..

DO NOT TRY TO FILE IT! You'll only screw it up more. Send it back. Zildjian will back it up. If you spent that much jack on a new cymbal, it should be in perfect condition!
